Through the Looking Glass--Treasure Hunt, Part 2

Have you guessed the riddle?

Oh fiddle! I suppose perhaps you haven't?

Here is the answer that I concluded: a looking glass!! It all makes sense! Now what am I supposed to DO with this answer? I really don't understand how this is a treasure hunt. What do you think? What do I know about a looking glass? And then the answer hit me--with a slap on the face, I realized the obvious conclusion: Through the Looking Glass! As quick as a flash, I grabbed my volume of Alice in Wonderland....

And I opened it to the first page of Through the Looking Glass. As soon as I had opened it, I discovered a little envelope that said "Open me". I felt my heartbeat speed up at the site of that little letter....

And so, following the instructions on the letter, I opened it.

The left side read:

Keep it up!
Everyone here is pleased.
You aren't sure what I mean?

How about a cup of tea?
Evening starts at 6 PM.
Round up your wits.
Especially then!

I thought I had a pretty good idea about what this little message was about, but I didn't know why there was a break in the middle of the rhyming letter. Because "pleased" and "tea" rhymed, so why split them up? Why not split them up after "evening" began? I don't understand. But I do think that it's referring to the Mad Tea Party.

The right hand side of the note read:

No one could have done better.
Only you are especially good.
Tell me about when I met her.

Trading secrets!
How can it be?
 Else you are Tweedledee!
Respectfully so.
Errands to run and people to know.

This second one makes no sense. The only word I recognize as referring to Through the Looking Glass or Alice in Wonderland is Tweedledee. So far, I have no idea what this clue could mean. But I am prepared to spend my day cracking it! Okay, so what is this with the random splitting of the verses? What does it mean? I know couplets are separated, but these aren't couplets--they're separated randomly--sometimes with three , four, or five lines.

But no matter how hard I tried to make sense of the clue, I just couldn't get it. Until something caught my eye. The first page makes more sense than the second page--the second page looks as though it was written based only on the first letter....

And that's when it hit me. It was staring me right in the face. Right down the letters, I read:

K
E

H
E
R
E

N
O
T

T
H
E
R
E

Excited at my discovery, I quickly flipped through the book until I reached the chapter about the Mad Tea Party. And that's when I discovered this:

My key. My very special key. I am floating on air. Who led me to this key through a series of riddles, I have no idea. But I do know that this key is all mine and I am going to find out what it opens :)

Just as a little thanks for beings such good sports, I have a little printable treat for everyone.

Four poems print out on one page. I wrote this little poem on a whim and I thought it would be fun to share it with everyone :) I like writing whimsical little poems. They just help me to express myself and I love them. Here is a challenge for you: Pick up a copy of Alice in Wonderland and head over to The Mad Tea Party, chapter 7. You won't regret it. Infuse your life with a little whimsy, won't you? For me?

Goodbye for now, everyone! I hope you've enjoyed solving my riddles :) I love riddles, especially when I already know the answer! Haha!

xoxo Jess

  1. Oh gosh I suppose I am not so great at these riddles haha. Of course it's a looking glass, water, what a silly answer I gave.

What a wonderful poem Jess! You have quite a knack for loquaciousness. Heehee, what a word! I don't know why but I am obsessed with the word "gossamer". It's so pretty!

Your stories are so much fun! I love them. Please, please keep making em!

  3. I’m glad you were able to solve the riddle. I must say that was a little tricky and hard to crack! But I’m kinda excited about the key and its intended purpose. Maybe a key to a secret gathering? A closet full of wonderful things? Or a place where magic is a thing? Wow, did I just make some rhymes? Anyway, whatever the key meant, I’m sure it is for something exciting and shouldn’t be missed! Keep us updated!
