♥ Mad Tea Party ♥ 2012

Welcome to the 5th annual Mad Tea Party, hosted by A Fanciful Twist

There is a place, you see. Really quite curious. At a certain time of year, at a certain time of day, you can find yourself floating through space and time, falling, falling...down the rabbit hole you go, until you are completely immersed in Wonderland. And in fact, that's where I found myself tiptoeing today.

What really drew me in was the music.

Oh, how silly of me! I forgot to wish you a very merry un-birthday! How could I neglect to mention it? Make a wish!

Beyond a purple, gauze lined entrance with a welcome banner into the maddest place on earth....

And through the looking glass....

There lay a colorful little table piled high with treats and lace galore.

The whole area was lined with paper art and gauzy material strung about, beckoning....

Away from home, they said, come with us, indulge in Wonderland. A whimsy that can only be fully experienced once a year, on a very special un-birthday.

A magic banner should do the trick.

Come, take a seat! There is piping hot tea awaiting your generous taste-testing! Plus doily covered cupcakes that need to be attended to....I'm sure you can take care of that one, though :)

Where to put your lace parosal? Oh, don't worry about it, dear. Just open it up and stick it right into the air, it'll float. This is Wonderland, after all!

The cake pops are quite delicious, if I do say so myself!

And please, do help yourself to some treacle tart! It's fresh treacle from the treacle well, so it has to be good, no doubt about it! And the pixie dust bottle looks especially tempting....

Is that a lovely dusty rose ruffle cake I spy peeking out from the corner? Well, you must indulge in that confection as well, you simply must! Oh, did I spill some tea on your ruffled gown? I'm so sorry dear, just use your imagination, it'll come right off :)

Is that Alice I spy? What would she say if she were dining with us right now? What about the Mad Hatter? And I am quite glad the Queen of Hearts isn't here! Goodness, she might have all of our heads just for eating the un-birthday cake without her!

Candy in bowls and pretty little jars, scattered about, ready for you to nibble and munch....gumballs and taffy, gummy worms and sour patch....can't go wrong there :)

And of course, old fashioned hard candy and Swedish fish!

Darling, I've already told you; you can't gain any weight while in Wonderland! Now, how many slices of treacle tart suits your fancy? Two or three?

And don't forget the maple nut bubble bread! No tea party would be complete without the little balls of bread :) Have at it, good chap! And have a sucker as well :) Not a sucker like that, silly goose! A lollipop!

DIBS!!!!!!!!

Peppermint, anyone?

The Mad Hatter seems to have a certain liking for these caramel cremes....they're disappearing like mad!

But the March Hare much prefers the lollipops. How about you? Personally, I'm with the Hatter and the cremes.

Oh good, the White Rabbit just arrived! He's always running late, you know. And now someone will eat that  purple ruffle cake! (Unless you can beat him to it....)

So many sweets, where to begin? Have you gone bonkers yet? Have you slipped into a sugar coma? Oh...we've lost the Hatter! I told him not to eat so many cake pops, but does he listen? Of course not! It's a MAD tea party, after all :) Restraint is for wimps.

Pour yourself another cup of passion pink tea, we'll have a little chat :D

Oh good, some of the other guests are starting to arrive! The Princess of Diamonds, my very good friend,  loves reading about Alice's adventures. Can't say that I blame her :)

And don't forget your wand! However are you supposed to do magic without it?

Will someone please revive the Hatter with their wand? Oh, thank you :)

Being transported back to 1865 is just the right time for this lovely Mad Tea Party, which I have enjoyed ever so much. (Even if Hatter did eat all the caramel cremes....)

Pour yourself another cup of tea and readjust your plumed feather hat! And remember that Wonderland can always be found in your imagination, in the pocket of life, hope, and dreams where it is always waiting for you to take a leap of faith, down the rabbit hole....

A Very Merry Un-Birthday to all!

Thanks again to Vanessa from A Fanciful Twist for hosting this wonderful event! Check out her Mad Tea Party here.

P.S. About the giveaway! I had planned on doing a Wonderland giveaway, and I know I have put in the last several posts that the drawing for the giveaway was going to be today, but it seems I have messed up. For those of you who have entered already and were expecting the drawing today, I am quite sorry! But we are going to do it a bit differently this time around. (Can you tell I'm new to this?) I'll show you what you could win and in order to enter, just leave a comment below. (And while you're at it, leave a link to a mad tea party of your own, if you have one!)

Here's what you could win:

Two A Fanciful Twist postcards, a doily, several pieces of salt water taffy, a couple of glittered stars, three wish tickets (two blank, for your own wishes, one with words), a cupcake magnet bookmark, and King of Hearts and Ace of Diamonds cards.

I'm so sorry to those of you who have already entered and were expecting the giveaway to be drawn today. You will be automatically counted for the giveaway, regardless if you leave another comment or not! Sorry again for all the confusion! (Well, it is a mad tea party after all.....)

The winner will be revealed in the next post.
